The Sonny William Gaddy Jr. Scholarship was created in honor of Sonny Gaddy Jr. or "JR" as his family called him. There are 2 scholarships in his name; a $500 book scholarship and college preparation baskets.

Who is Sonny Gaddy Jr.?
Born October 3, 1988, Sonny William Gaddy Jr. was a man who loved his faith, his family, and his community. Sonny was a humble individual who used his discernment to guide his decisions in everything he did.
He understood that life always had challenges and that everyone, regardless of their position or situation, deserved care and a chance to achieve their goals. Having a creative mind, Sonny developed a podcast and a set of initiatives for his business, CMO, which stands for Cultivating Mindsets Often and Calculated Moments Only.
Sonny has left a legacy for his friends and family to uphold; empowering the young people of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.
As an alumnus of Science Park High School, this book scholarship recognizes students who understand the importance of hard work and dedication. This year, we will nominate THREE high school seniors to receive an award of $500 for college book expenses. If you are interested, please complete the application below and be sure to provide any additional supporting documentation.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

Newark Resident
-
A high school senior from Science Park High School or a high school in the South Ward of Newark

A cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 2.5
